We process your uploaded documents and chat history to generate study materials and provide AI assistance. We use secure third-party AI providers to perform this processing. We do not sell your personal data. Documents and chats are retained until you delete them; once deleted, they are permanently removed after 30 days.

Welcome to Purp ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you use our mobile application and services.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication details.
  • User Content: Documents, files, chat conversations, and text you provide for processing ("Input") and the AI-generated responses and study materials ("Output").
  • Usage Data: Anonymous metrics, crash reports, and device information (e.g., device model, OS version) to improve app stability and performance.

3. AI Processing & Third-Party Sharing

To provide our core service—generating study materials from your documents—we transmit your validated User Content to third-party artificial intelligence providers.

  • Provider: Google Gemini (Google LLC).
  • Purpose: We send your text content to Google Gemini solely to generate flashcards, quizzes, and mind maps based on that content.
  • Data Security: Data is transmitted securely via HTTPS (TLS) encryption.
  • No Training: We do not use your User Content to train our own foundational AI models. Our agreements with providers are structured to protect your data privacy.

4. Data Retention

User Content: We retain your uploaded files and chat history to provide persistent study context across your devices.

Deletion Policy: You have full control over your data. When you delete a file or a chat conversation, it is moved to a "scheduled for deletion" state and is permanently purged from our servers after 30 days. Deleted accounts are immediately purged of all associated data.

Generated Content: We store the generated study materials associated with your account so you can study them until you choose to delete them.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit (TLS) and strict access controls, to protect your data. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can delete your account and all associated data directly within the app settings ("Delete Account").

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
